Remember when action movies had amazing over-produced gun sounds? Well here's a little something I made to bring that feel to GTA V.
Note: Only the Pistol, Combat Pistol, Pistol .50 & Pump Shotgun have been edited. Wanted to see what you guys thought first before I attempted the rest of the arsenal. Enjoy :)
Installation:
Start OpenIV
Edit Mode
Place all files from the WEAPONS_PLAYER.rpf folder into
x64/audio/sfx/WEAPONS_PLAYER.rpf
Then
Find weapons.awc in x64/audio/sfx/RESIDENT.rpf and Export to open formats.
Replace all files from the weapons.awc with the ones you've just exported and re-import by drag & dropping into the RESIDENT.rpf.

Where are all of the action movie gun sounds from?
Nice mod ! :D Can you do this with real life recorded gun sounds ?
@AllDueRespect Well I was hoping someone can take a guess :) Each of the 4 sounds are from 4 different action movies from the 90's. Any ideas?
@bakamania I can do any sounds. I'll do a real life gun sound pack for my next upload :)
Awesome!!
I think that the sound for the regular pistol are from Point Break, Total Recall, or Die Hard 3 and the sound for the desert eagle is from Last Action Hero?
Can't beat those 1990's early action movies!!
A better name for this pack would be called, Arma 2 weapon sounds.
I won't use it cause I prefer realistic sounds but it's a great idea, though I think whoever came up with that shotgun sound must have had a huge cocaine orgy. It sounds more like a hunting rifle than anything lol. You should also deffo port the m60 sound from Rambo!
@AllDueRespect I'm impressed! The regular pistol is from Die Hard 3!!! When McClane is shooting inside the car while Sam jackson is driving :) The combat pistol is from Seven it's the first shot sound when Brad Pitt shoots the crap out of Spacey :) The .50 pistol is Gary Oldman's revolver from Leon and the shotgun is ash's boomstick from army of darkness :) It's funny you mentioned point break as it's the first movie I went to! I used the shotgun sound when their robbing the last bank but it sounded so out of place in game :( But it sounded awesome if it was a cop shooting at you, real 90's action movie!!! I did also look over total recall as well for sounds :) I've still got a few effects to go though, in the next update I want to add more weapons and maybe a couple of alternate sounds for certain guns.
@vithepunisher I know! Totally awesome!
@Acekiler34 I've never played Arma 2 so I wouldn't know...
@ReaperVC I know what you mean it can be distracting depending on your preferences, but I'll be honest these are all I use! :) I'm a huge 90's action movie fan and these almost make me feel like I'm playing a game from that era if the tech was up at todays level back then :P Yeah the shotgun sound is like a normal shotgun on roids!!! It's Ash's shotgun from army of darkness.
@85pphoenix Yea don't game is nothing but a waste of money, the weapon sounds and characters look and, sound like they came out of a bad 1990s movie but this mod here mate is quality.
Not too shabby at all. Great idea using 90's sounds for the guns, that was a truly good time for gun FX sounds. If i may make a recommendation, you should consider using Ash's shotgun for the upcoming double barrel shotgun, it would fit in well. Also, for the Desert Eagle, my opinion for the best sound for that gun would be the The Agents Desert Eagle sound from the first matrix movie and the 2nd Die Hard's beretta sound effect due to they both sound meaty and like they actually pack a punch
@Acekiler34 I appreciate it :) Thanks. I've uploaded a GoldenEye 64 sound pack too if you want to check it out.
@commando110 I actually went through the matrix but chose the leon sound instead. Yeah the shotgun sound is made for a double barrelled shotgun definitely :) Is it a mod your making? I'll try to put the matrix desert eagle and die hard 2 beretta sounds in next update as alternate sounds :)
@85pphoenix 80s baby , you can't beat the 80s ; you should consider Terminator!
Pls do "the rest of the arsenal" now ;)
needs new video
Could you perhaps use some of these gun sounds? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAzWUyBWD6Y
Bit late on this, but these are still amazing!
