GTA IV Handling Mod AI Traffic Fix.
This mod will work with ANY other traffic mod, all it does it make the NPC's AI more cautious behind the wheel
Do you have a mod that makes all of the vehicles handle a bit more like they did in GTA IV?
This will make your traffic more cautious, people will start braking a little sooner and they will corner a little slower.
This affects all vehicles and all AI traffic in the game.
Install Instructions
1) Verify you have OpenIV installed and can access your game files
2) Unzip this mod file
3) Open OpenIV and click edit (near the top right)
4) Use OpenIV to navigate to the directories listed below:
\Grand Theft Auto V\update\update.rpf\common\data\ai
When you are in this directory, click on the green plus button or right click and then click on "add" and add the file "vehicleaihandlinginfo.meta from this mod.
5) Click on Edit again to turn it off.
6) Start GTA V OFFLINE
Updates:
~V 1.1~
-added a second option
-fixed drivers crashing
I test this against the most popular GTA IV handling mods that are available, if you find bugs or problems in your game please let me know!

Nice mod, although I have a question.
How come you place the file in Grand Theft Auto V\update\update.rpf\common\data\ai and not just replace the one found in common.rpf/data/ai ?
@fortinwithwill Just to make sure, does it also work with police ? Thanks. And which line please. I would like to modify it on my own becouse I have 1.6x faster police.
@dbakk The update folder loads last, and most mods ask to install in a similar directory. You can put it in the other directory if thats what you want. It should still work.
@Mateus I kind of merged this mod into my other traffic mod, which has more options to choose from here: https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/insanely-bad-drivers-traffic-mod
You can compare the versions to suit your needs better, the file is surprisingly simple with just a few variables controlling all of the AI in the game. If you just want faster cops you would have to edit the police vehicles to be faster, or apply this mod which will make all drivers (police included) drive faster.
@fortinwithwill Hey, I don!t think u understaned me there. I have faster police, which means I need them to brake sooner. I just don't know where to change it.
Sorry for any confusion. But how do you have faster police? A script mod? Editing the files in this mod affect ALL of the drivers, there is no spot to change just the police.
The RPFs in this mod has 4 categories, sports cars, crap cars, average cars and trucks. Most police vehicles fall into the "average" so you could change just the average car category but that will affect all of the cars that are in that category. The only way to affect JUST the police's braking is to write a custom script mod. You could give the police cars better brakes in the handling.meta file, and they will come to a stop sooner.
Can you teach me how to edit these AI driving skills?
Will this mod fix the problem with cars spawning around corners when I am going fast and making me crash? It is like they have it programmed to do it on purpose.
Can you fix AI cars crashing into sides of boat trailer. They are aware of it when aproaching from behind, but they will crash into trailer if coming from left or right side?
Any chance of an update?

Great mod! I have an RP server based in Paleto Bay, and cars go slamming into each other without this mod. With this mod, every now and then you'll see a car crash because of how fast they're going. Possibly make the highway speeds lower?
@fortinwithwill There is another directory (common.rpf/data/ai) where u can replace "vehicleaihandlinginfo" file. What do you think about it?
in my gta v i have drivers driving extremely slow ... like 20 mph ... its aggravating when your want to play as a cop but have realistic speeds as well ... here i come doing 55 and a car goes 20 until sandy shores .. does this mod either fix or make that issue worse?

Which values should I revert back if I want to increase their speed at turning points? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely think this mod is essential if you want a more realistic traffic. But because of ai drivers slow ass turnings I could spend extra time being stuck in traffic waiting for green light to be lit. I want a little bit faster ai on every points, including when they turn, but also more cautious ai like what this mod is exactly doing
